More than 60 delegates from 20 member nations are expected to participate in high-level discussions on productivity, innovation and sustainable economic growth.

India is set to host the 68th session of the Governing Body of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from May 20 to May 22, reinforcing the country’s growing role in regional economic and productivity cooperation.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will attend the inaugural session on May 21, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Delegates From 20 APO Member Nations to Attend
The three-day event is expected to bring together more than 60 senior representatives from 20 APO member countries across the Asia-Pacific region.
The meeting will also see participation from directors, policy advisors, diplomatic representatives and invited international guests.
Observers from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Bhutan are expected to attend alongside representatives from the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).
Focus on APO Vision 2030 and Future Planning
According to the ministry, discussions during the Governing Body meeting will focus on the APO Vision 2030 framework, which aims to strengthen productivity, innovation and sustainable development among member countries.
Delegates are also expected to deliberate on the preliminary budget for the 2027–28 biennium and review the process related to the election of the APO Secretary-General.
The event will additionally honour productivity advocates and technical experts through the APO National Awards.
Significance of the Asian Productivity Organization
The Asian Productivity Organization, established in 1961, is an intergovernmental organisation comprising 21 member economies from the Asia-Pacific region.
The organisation works to improve productivity through policy collaboration, research, training programmes and knowledge-sharing initiatives among member countries.
India has remained an active participant in APO initiatives, particularly in areas related to industrial productivity, digital transformation, innovation and sustainable economic practices.
