Leaders express optimism as counting trends indicate strong performance for Congress-led alliance

New Delhi, May 4 (H.S.): Early counting trends from the Kerala Assembly elections indicate a lead for the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), prompting celebrations among party supporters in Thiruvananthapuram.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed optimism over the initial trends, stating that while Kerala embraces political diversity, the alliance appears to be heading towards a comfortable majority.
Leaders Express Confidence
“We have every reason to rejoice so far, though final tallies may shift; we are the party that brings change and seeks to transform politics,” Tharoor said while speaking to reporters.
Congress MP J.B. Mather described the trends as a significant victory for the UDF under Congress leadership. She said the alliance is expecting to cross 100 seats and is confident of forming the government in the state.
Kovalam Congress candidate M. Vincent also voiced confidence, stating that his decade-long public service would be reflected in the results. “UDF victory is assured,” he said.
Caution Over Early Trends
Meanwhile, Congress media chairman Pawan Khera urged caution, noting that trends across multiple states remain preliminary and could change as counting progresses.
From West Bengal’s Malatipur, Congress candidate Mousami Noor said that final outcomes would matter most and expressed confidence in the people’s verdict.
