In an effort to promote inclusive and future-ready living environments, Paranjape Schemes Construction Private Limited, one of Maharashtra’s leading real estate developers, has announced a collaboration with Tarangan Foundation. The partnership supports Swaniketan, India’s first residential community created specifically for differently-abled individuals and their families, and will focus on implementing a structured assessment process and long-term care framework.
Developed under the Paranjape Special Projects Division (PSPD), Swaniketan has been envisioned as a long-term residential community where families can live with dignity, safety, and strong community support. The project features thoughtfully designed family homes and assisted hostel accommodations, supported by shared infrastructure such as a Vocational Training Centre, therapy and rehabilitation spaces, a Day Care Centre, recreational facilities, and dedicated caregiver assistance on every floor.
Under this partnership, Tarangan Foundation will lead the screening and assessment process for families interested in becoming part of the Swaniketan community. The evaluation framework includes comprehensive health and psychosocial assessments, consultations with families, evaluation of financial preparedness, and guidance on legal planning. These steps are intended to help families establish long-term continuity of care through mechanisms such as private trusts and structured succession planning.
Amit Paranjape, Director – Business Development at Paranjape Schemes Construction Private Limited, said, “Swaniketan is not just envisioned as a housing project, but as a secure and lifelong ecosystem for differently-abled individuals and their families. Establishing a comprehensive assessment and screening process is essential to understand each resident’s care requirements, support systems, and long-term financial readiness. Our partnership with Tarangan Foundation brings valuable expertise in evaluation and care planning, ensuring that families joining the community are aligned with its purpose and are prepared for a future built on dignity, stability, and sustained care.”
Beena Modak, Director of Tarangan Foundation, added, “For many parents of individuals with developmental needs, the most pressing concern is ‘what will happen after us.’ Swaniketan, pioneered by Paranjape Schemes, offers families a meaningful solution by creating a purpose-built and secure residential community focused on lifelong support. Through this collaboration, we will work closely with families through structured assessments, counselling, and long-term care planning, helping ensure residents are prepared not only for the present but also for a stable and dignified future. Together, we aim to build an ecosystem that brings reassurance, continuity, and renewed hope to families.”
This collaboration represents an important step in strengthening Swaniketan’s care-focused ecosystem by integrating professional assessments, specialised support, and long-term continuity planning within a purpose-built residential environment. It reinforces the project’s vision of providing not just housing, but a secure and sustainable future for differently-abled individuals and their families. Reflecting the strong demand for such a model, more than 200 families have already completed the structured screening process, with over 75 families shortlisted in the first phase ahead of the project launch. This growing response highlights Swaniketan’s emergence as a pioneering and much-needed solution for inclusive, lifelong community living in India.
