Lieutenant Governor calls drug menace ‘silent terrorism’, urges public participation to eliminate threat

Jammu, April 30 (H.S.): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday joined the Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir campaign in Doda, calling for a united public movement to eradicate drug abuse and narcotics trafficking from the region.
Addressing a gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the growing people’s participation in the campaign reflects strong collective resolve and emphasized that the menace can only be eliminated through unity and sustained effort.
He described drug trafficking as a form of “silent terrorism,” stating that narcotics smuggling poses a serious threat to society by destroying youth, weakening families and undermining social stability.
The Lieutenant Governor asserted that those involved in drug trafficking would face strict legal action, adding that such elements would be treated with the same seriousness as terrorists under the law.
Strong Warning Against Drug Networks
Sinha said authorities are committed to identifying and dismantling all drug networks, including smugglers, local peddlers and syndicates operating in the region.
He assured that strict action would be taken against those involved, reiterating that the administration will not rest until the entire network is eliminated.
Call for Public Participation
Highlighting the importance of community involvement, the Lieutenant Governor stressed that the fight against drugs cannot be handled by the government alone and requires active participation from citizens.
He noted that with 80 days remaining in the ongoing 100-day campaign, every effort must be intensified to achieve the goal of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
Calling it a “Jan-Andolan,” he urged people to move beyond indifference and take responsibility, stating that a drug-free society depends on collective vigilance and responsible choices by citizens.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed confidence that with coordinated efforts, Jammu and Kashmir can emerge as a model for a drug-free society in the country.
