CM Pays Tribute to Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das on Birth Anniversary in Kendujhar

Odisha CM highlights legacy of Madhusudan Das, announces focus on cultural preservation and development

Bhubaneswar, April 28 (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid tribute to ‘Utkal Gourav’ Madhusudan Das on his 178th birth anniversary during a commemorative programme held in Kendujhar.

The event, organised at the District Collector’s office, was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, MP Ananta Nayak, Telkoi MLA and District Planning Committee Chairman Fakir Mohan Nayak, along with other dignitaries who offered floral tributes at the statue of Madhusudan Das.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described Madhusudan Das as the chief architect of a separate Odisha and said his ideals continue to inspire the vision of a progressive and prosperous state. He also recalled Madhubabu’s association with Kendujhar and his role as a prominent lawyer during the Kendujhar Praja Movement, where he stood for justice.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage, Majhi announced plans to develop Madhusudan Das’s birthplace, Satyabhamapur, into a major tourist and inspirational destination with dedicated infrastructure.

He further noted that efforts are underway to promote local artisans across Kendujhar and the state, in line with Madhubabu’s vision of industrial and social development. The Chief Minister also pointed out that Utkal Divas was celebrated extensively this year to spread awareness about the contributions of great leaders among citizens.

Reaffirming the government’s focus on inclusive growth, he said initiatives are being taken to bring remote and underdeveloped regions into the mainstream of development.

The programme was attended by senior officials, public representatives and a large number of local residents.
