Virat Kohli Shatters Sachin Tendulkar’s Record, Becomes Fastest to 14,000 ODI Runs
Summary: Virat Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest batter to 14,000 ODI runs, achieving the milestone in just 287 innings. Kohli’s century helped India dominate Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025 clash, securing a six-wicket victory.
Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli rewrote history books once again by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record during the Champions Trophy 2025 encounter against Pakistan in Dubai. Kohli became the fastest batter in ODI history to reach 14,000 runs, achieving the milestone in just 287 innings, far ahead of Tendulkar’s 350 innings.
This incredible feat also places him alongside Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara, who had reached the landmark in 378 innings. However, Kohli stands out as the only player to achieve this milestone in under 300 innings, further solidifying his status as one of the greatest batters of all time.
Kohli Reaches Milestone in Style
Starting his innings just 15 runs shy of the historic mark, Kohli wasted no time in making history. In classic fashion, he reached the milestone with an exquisite boundary off Haris Rauf, sending Indian fans into jubilation.
Not stopping there, the batting maestro went on to notch up his 51st ODI century, scoring a composed 100 off 111 balls*. His masterclass helped India crush Pakistan by six wickets, securing their second consecutive win in the tournament.
India Dominates Pakistan in One-Sided Clash
Batting first, Pakistan struggled to put up a competitive total as they were bundled out for 241 runs in 49.3 overs. Saud Shakeel (62 off 76) and skipper Mohammad Rizwan (46 off 77) provided some resistance, but India’s disciplined bowling attack kept them under control.
Kuldeep Yadav (3/40) and Hardik Pandya (2/31) were the pick of the bowlers, with Pandya dismissing both Babar Azam (23) and Shakeel to derail Pakistan’s innings.
Chasing 242, India completed the win in just 42.3 overs, thanks to:
✅ Virat Kohli – 100 off 111 balls*
✅ Shubman Gill – 46 off 52 balls
✅ Shreyas Iyer – 56 off 67 balls
Skipper Rohit Sharma (20 off 15) provided a quick start before falling to a stunning delivery from Shaheen Afridi.
India Inches Closer to Semifinals, Pakistan on Brink of Elimination
With two wins in two matches, India is virtually through to the semifinals, maintaining their unbeaten run in the tournament. On the other hand, Pakistan faces the threat of early elimination after back-to-back losses in the group stage.
As Kohli continues to rewrite history, Indian fans will be hoping for more magic from their modern-day legend as the Champions Trophy 2025 progresses.
