Gurugram, July 11, 2025: A shocking tragedy has rocked Gurugram, where 25-year-old Radhika Yadav, a talented tennis player and coach, was shot dead by her own father, Deepak Yadav, in their Sushant Lok home. The incident, which took place on July 10, 2025, has left the community in disbelief, with a viral music video featuring Radhika adding a mysterious twist to the case.
What Happened?
Radhika was in the kitchen, preparing food for her mother’s birthday, when her father shot her three times with a licensed revolver. The bullets hit her neck and back, and despite being rushed to Asia Maringo Hospital by her uncle, Kuldeep Yadav, she could not be saved. Deepak, a retired bank employee, confessed to the crime and was arrested. The police recovered the weapon used in the murder.
Kuldeep, who lives on the ground floor of the family’s Sector 57 residence, said he heard a loud sound like an explosion around 10:30 AM. He rushed upstairs to find Radhika lying in a pool of blood. “We tried to save her, but it was too late,” he said, still shaken by the loss of his niece.
The Viral Music Video
A music video called Karwaan, released in 2024 by LLF Records, has become a talking point after Radhika’s death. The video, featuring Radhika with artist INAAM, has spread rapidly on social media, leading many to wonder if it played a role in the tragedy. Some reports suggested Deepak was upset about the video, but the police have clarified that the family had agreed to Radhika’s participation when it was filmed a year ago. They also noted that Radhika’s social media accounts have been inactive for over a year, ruling out recent disputes over online posts.
Still, sources say Deepak was uneasy about Radhika’s growing fame, including her appearance in the music video. This discomfort may have added to the tensions at home, though it’s not the main reason for the crime.
The Real Cause: A Fight Over Independence
According to the Gurugram Police, the root of the conflict was Radhika’s tennis academy, which she ran successfully. Deepak, who earned Rs 15 lakh annually from rental properties, wanted her to close the academy, believing the family didn’t need her income. But Radhika, a strong and independent woman, refused to give up her passion. This led to frequent arguments, as Deepak felt insulted by comments from villagers about depending on his daughter’s earnings.
“Deepak was struggling with depression and felt humiliated,” a police officer said. “The disagreement over the academy was the main trigger.” The police have ruled out rumors of an honor killing and are still looking into other possible factors, like objections to Radhika’s friendships or online presence, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
A Community in Shock
Radhika was known as a bright and dedicated athlete who inspired many through her tennis coaching. Her sudden death has left her students, friends, and neighbors heartbroken. “She was so full of life, always encouraging others,” said a student from her academy. “We can’t believe this happened.”
